Our Pocketful: Learning Pockets UK series is designed for Teaching Assistants, Support Staff, Early Career Teachers and Cover Supervisors looking to progress in their careers.
Liz is a fully qualified teacher and trainer with many years of experience working with children, young people, and adults to support their learning in both group and one-to-one situations. As a Biologist with a special interest in the brain, she initially taught Science in High Schools and has always pursued ‘brain-friendly’ ways of teaching.
Liz also undertook additional training as a Hamlyn Fellow with the University of the First Age and then with neuroscientist Roy Paget from the British Academy of Advanced Training in order to employ the best teaching and learning methods available.
Liz originally founded Learning Pockets UK to support learners in any situation to feel more confident about their ability to succeed through carefully designed programs of support. Liz provides one-to-one mentoring (privately and in schools), group training (in partnership with or on behalf of other organisations and businesses), as well as public speaking (to anyone who will listen), and writing blogs on education-related topics.
The vision she has is that everyone has the opportunity to ‘grow’ and reach their full potential at any age and within any sector. To this end, as a great believer in life-long learning, Liz has more recently graduated from an intensive Trainer certification course in ‘Accelerated Learning’, with a globally renowned personal development organisation, ‘Success Resources’, and is currently undertaking an intensive year-long business course for entrepreneurs.
