This OFQUAL regulated distance learning qualification will be recognised by schools and OFSTED and provides the skills to work in a school as a Teaching Assistant.

You will have full support and guidance from a personal tutor for the duration of the course. There is no experience required, just a great attitude and desire to make a difference in the development of children and young people.

Upon completion, you will be fully certified and able to apply for Teaching Assistant jobs in schools at Level 3.

Units Covered

This qualification consists of 4 mandatory units. Learners must achieve all 12 credits from the 4
mandatory units to pass. You will cover the following units:
Unit 1

Communication and professional relationships 

In this unit learners will:
  • Be provided with the knowledge and understanding that underpins effective communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults. 

Schools as organisations

In this unit learners will:
  • Prepare for working in a school.
  • Cover the knowledge and understanding of the school context.

Understand child and young person development 

In this unit learners will:
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of child and young person development and the factors including transitions, which may affect development. 

Safeguarding children and young people 

In this unit learners will:
  • Be provided with the knowledge and understanding required for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
