This course introduces the topic of Legionella and helps individuals to develop an understanding of why and how current legislation requires Legionella to be managed within a workplace environment. A workplace environment is any building or even location where there are employees or even the self-employed such as factories, schools, hotels, hospitals, contractors working on domestic properties etc.
This course was developed by Health and Safety experts and is approved by RoSPA. It ensures compliance with UK Health and Safety Legislation.
This course is separated into three modules of learning:
Module One: Introduction to Legionella
Module One will be setting the scene regarding legionella. It looks at what Legionella is, exactly, what illnesses can be caused by legionella, what the health risks are, where it is found and what factors could increase the risk of contracting legionella-related illnesses. It will also look at some important historical events involving Legionella.
Module Two: Legionella Legislation
Module Two covers what legislation is applicable in relation to legionella and what is required to achieve compliance. We will also look at what other guidance is available to assist with the management of the risks of legionella in workplaces and public buildings.
Module Three: Legionella and the School Environment
Module Three examines the potential sources of legionella bacterium within a school facility and the steps that can be taken to mitigate the risks of infection.
Study time: 60 mins.
