In this story we look at neurodiversity. We look at how a person with a neurodiversity condition might feel and some of the barriers that they may encounter. We also look at how we can all make simple changes so we can help people, both neurodiverse and neurotypical, to be the best they can be and feel included and valued.

This story will cover the following topics:
  • What neurodiversity is.
  • What type of conditions come under the terms neurodiversity.
  • That someone who has a neurodiversity condition is classed as neurodiverse. 
  • That people who don’t have any of these conditions are classed as neurotypical. 
  • That we are all unique, and this includes neurodiverse people.
  • How to understand some of the boundaries in friendships.
  • How to explore some of the qualities of being a good friend.
  • How to promote that children should always tell an adult they know they can trust, if they are worried or scared.
The outcomes of this story are:
  • I can say what neurodiversity is.
  • I can name some neurodiversity conditions.
  • I can tell you why we are all unique, including people with neurodiversity. 
  • I can say why friendships are so important. 
  • I can name different qualities that help make friendships work.
