Trigger Warning

The content within this course deals with sensitive and on occasion difficult topics around safeguarding and as a result may cause you to trigger some feelings or emotions that are upsetting. Due to the nature of safeguarding training these topics need to be discussed. There may be lists or examples given of categories of early childhood trauma, including sexual and physical violence and neglect. Please feel free to leave the course if a particular subject triggers you and seek help and support when necessary. In this course, you will explore how you can prevent bullying – particularly through engaging pupil voice, how to support children and young people when they are bullied and help those who bully to change their behaviours.

This course is separated into three modules of learning:

Module One: Bullying and Cyberbullying
This course begins by taking a look at bullying and cyberbullying, their definitions, and the responsibilities in school concerning these issues.

Module Two: Strategies to Prevent Bullying
In this module, we will be looking at whole school responses to preventing bullying. We will look at how to build a bullying prevention culture and establish anti-bullying practices.

Module Three: Strategies to Support Victims of Bullying
In this module, we will have a look at strategies to support victims of bullying. Most importantly how we, as adults, can make sure that the hurt that is experienced by being the victim of bullying does not become a lifelong trauma.

Module Four: Helping Bullies to Change Their Behaviour
In this final module, we will look at what might cause children and young people to become bullies, and what we might do to support them to change their behaviour. We will also review prevention strategies and support to evoke permanent behaviour changes.

Study Time: 60 mins.
