Suggested Delivery for Reception & Key Stage 1

The Dog, Duck and Cat (DDC) stories that are included along with the lesson plans for KS1/Years One and Two are also suitable to be shared and read with Reception aged pupils.

The associated lessons plans and activities are intended for more formal learning suitable for KS1 pupils, so we would not recommend that you use these with Reception pupils, but instead focus on introducing and exploring each story and building some basic awareness of the key themes in each DDC story.  When you then choose to return to each story and deliver the accompanying lessons in KS1, this will help pupils to have a better level of understanding and readiness to learn.
