In the story we look at meeting new people, how that can make us feel, and what that can lead to. We also look at alcohol and its risks to children.

This story covers the following themes:

Learning Outcomes
This story will cover the following topics:
  • Understanding of appropriate use of alcohol.
  • Demonstrating the principles of friendship.
  • Developing an understanding of what a friend is.
  • Highlighting appropriate interaction.
  • Developing an understanding of what is safe and what is dangerous to drink in the home and in the community.
  • Ensuring young people are aware of how to stay as safe as possible.
  • Promoting that children should always tell an adult, they know they can trust, if they are worried or scared.
The outcomes of this story are:
  • I can understand why I should never drink alcohol, unless it is a very small amount. 
  • I know that being mean to other people is wrong.
  • I know that if I am scared, I should talk to an adult I can trust.
  • I know that if I see someone being nasty or unkind that I should tell an adult straight away.
  • I know I should treat other people as I would want to be treated, especially ‘new’ people.
  • I know I should always be honest and not lie about things.
  • I can tell you what bullying is and why it is wrong.
  • I can talk about how bullying affects people.
  • I know that if I am scared or worried, I should talk to an adult I can trust.
