Learning Outcomes
This lesson series will cover the following topics:
  • To understand the function of puberty in both males and females and the physical and emotional changes that occur. 
  • To understand that growing up also brings about social changes as well as physical and emotional changes. 
  • To know that there are sources of advice and support around puberty and change if pupils need help.
  • To consider how relationships will change as they grow up. 
  • To explore what attraction means.
  • To consider the qualities we might look for in romantic relationships, and what makes for positive, healthy relationships.
The outcomes of this lesson series are:
  • I can explain what puberty is and give examples of some of the emotional and physical changes that happen.
  • I can talk about other changes that will happen as I grow older, including my interests, relationships and responsibilities.
  • I know who I can go to and how to ask questions that I might have about puberty, growing up and other changes.
  • I can talk about different types of friendships and relationships.
  • I understand the qualities that are important to me in positive and healthy relationships. 
  • I can describe differences between a friendship and a romantic relationship.
  • I can talk about common puberty dilemmas and how these could be handled.
