In this story we look at water safety and how quickly accidents can happen. We also look at sun safety and why it is important.

Learning Outcomes
This story will cover the following topics:
  • Understanding how to keep safe in the sun.
  • Understanding that no matter what skin colour you have, you can still get burnt in the sun.
  • Understanding that water, even shallow water, can be dangerous.
  • Understanding that accidents can happen very quickly - so children need to be supervised at all times.
  • Promoting that children should always tell an adult that they trust, if they are worried or scared. 
The outcomes of this story are:
  • I understand that the sun can be bad for me.
  • I understand that there are things I can do to help keep myself safe when I am in the sun.
  • I understand that no matter what my skin colour is, I should still use sunscreen when I am out in the sun. 
  • I know that if something bad has happened, I should tell an adult I trust straight away.
  • I understand that water can be dangerous.
  • I understand that there are things I can do to help keep myself safe when in, or around water.
  • I understand that no matter what the depth of the water is, it can still be dangerous.
